Microsoft are quickly building up to the big release of their next-gen console, the Xbox Series X, towards the end of this year, which has unfortunately spelled the end for production of the current generation of Xbox, the X and the S All-digital.
The writing has been on the wall for a while, but Microsoft has now confirmed the consoles will cease to roll out of the factory as they push on into the future of gaming. Rumours started to fly around social media that this would happen several weeks ago, with several outlets across Australia claiming they had stopped receiving stock of the two consoles in the run up to Christmas.
It makes sense for Microsoft to pump more resources into their Series X console, and might offer a glimmer of hope to gamers that this might be a little more affordable than we might first have thought.
Microsoft could be gambling to encourage their player base (and the wider gaming community) to invest in the Series X only, and are expecting this new console to be so good, that they wouldn’t ever want you to purchase the older model.
However, because of the production line slowing to a halt, it now means this is probably your last chance to pick one up for a reasonable price, and stock is already running pretty dry across online stores.
Amazon is showing limited stock already on the All-Digital Xbox One S and many other retailers are completely sold out already.
We don’t have an official release date for the Series X console as of yet, and with the price still held secret by the good people of Microsoft, you might still want to grab a current-gen console to keep you going – especially if you’re yet to upgrade to 4K gaming.
Thankfully, there are still a few offers to be had, and you can still save some money on the One X and One S consoles.
Amazon has a few One X and One S consoles available, though you should expect the stock to rapidly drain in the coming months in the lead to the Series X release. As we said, a lot of the offers are completely sold out or not available but there are one or two offers still left.
There are a couple second-hand Xbox One S consoles available to buy – with games like Assassin’s Creed Origins, Madden NFL 2018, or Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels for around £400 through Amazon, but they are, so far, out of stock of brand new consoles.
Away from Amazon, there are a few other retailers you can check out to still get an Xbox console, though you might have to pay a little more than you’d hoped to enjoy 4K gaming.
GAME has plenty of offers on both consoles, depending on if you want to get a game alongside your new Xbox, and will be delivering within the week which is always nice.
If that’s a little too pricey, you can still pick up a console from AO.com, who are slashing prices and offering fast deliveries to boot.
If you’re still interested in picking up an Xbox One console ahead of the Series X release keep this page tabbed as it will be updated as we get more offers.
