Instagram has a new head of marketing.
The Facebook-owned photo-sharing app has hired Melissa Waters as its new global vice president of marketing, Business Insider has learned.
Waters comes from pharmaceutical startup Hims and Hers, and she’ll be responsible for telling Instagram’s story to the world and promoting itself to users and businesses. She replaces Gedioen Aloula, who was only with Instagram in the role for around a year, and who had joined from PC company HP. It’s not immediately clear why Aloula left.
Waters previously worked as VP of marketing for transportation firm Lyft, and as VP of brand and product marketing at streaming service Pandora before that.
Waters describes herself on LinkedIn as an “Accomplished and award-winning marketing executive with 15+ years of experience in high growth businesses. I am passionate about building beloved brands, developing high-functioning teams, and driving business impact”
